Laser Hair Removal
Preparation for and recovering Laser Hair Removal
For at least 2 weeks before your treatment, we ask that you not bleach or pluck the hair you want removed. Shave, but be sure to leave a stubble (short, stiff, bristle hairs) in the area you would like treated. Avoid tanning and sunbathing before your treatment. If you have genital herpes or cold sores, please take your medications before treatment.
After treatment, you should apply a cold compress to help reduce redness and inflammation. To give your hair follicles time to heal properly, you should avoid makeup, moisturizers and creams, perfumes and shaving for 2 to 3 days. For best results, you should not tweeze, pluck, wax, or have electrolysis on the laser-treated area. You can return to shaving after several days and once your follicles have healed.*
Once you have healed, be sure to use a sunscreen with an SPF of 30 whenever you are outside to avoid pigmentation issues. You also can gently exfoliate the treated areas with a loofah sponge or washcloth to help turn over new skin cells and reveal your beautiful, smooth, hair-free skin!*

How does BBL Hair Removal treatments feel?
Treatments are gentle, non-invasive and safe. A cooling system soothes the skin, so the treatment is delivered with minimal or no discomfort. Personal sensitivity varies from patient to patient.
How many treatments will I need?
Most areas require 4-6 treatments applied at 4-5 week intervals to achieve optimal benefit. Long-term results depend on multiple factors such as hair thickness, the area treated and the hair’s growth cycle. Hair grows in three stages: anagen, catagen and telogen. Hair removal technologies can only treat hairs in the anagen phase, also known as the active growth phase. Since not all hairs are in the same growth stage at the same time, multiple treatments are necessary to target all hairs in the treatment site.
How long does a BBL Hair Removal treatment take?
Treatment time will vary depending upon the size of the area treated and you hair and skin type. Typically, an upper lip only takes about one minute while a large area such as your back can take half an hour.
How long will it take to recover?
BBL Hair Removal in a non-invasive, gentle procedure with virtually no downtime. In most cases, you can resume your normal daily activities immediately.

How does Laser Hair Removal work?
A laser delivers high-energy light that targets pigment inside the hair follicle and destroys the follicle, which stops the hair from growing.
The type of laser your medical aesthetician will use depends upon your skin type and hair color. While a single laser hair removal treatment can reduce the thickness and density of hair, 5 to 7 treatments are typically needed to significantly reduce hair. After we have successfully reduced your unwanted hair, you might want to return once or twice yearly to target hair that has grown from newly active follicles.
